This study was trying to use the idea of if you get a shape to fit over an object it will acknowledge this and another action will happen. This test didn’t work because I wasn’t sure how to get the file to acknowledge when the movie clip was over the file. I think this study woudl work well to show how shapes need to fit together in order for something to operate properly. It is the most basic way to communicate building.

THis was a basic study to see what you coudl do when you have a mouse movement that is tracked. I wanted to explore the possibility of navigating through a space and having every movement be tracked.

This study explores the idea of finding what you want in a certain amount of time. Whenever I’m in a hardware store I want to get what I want and leave as soon as possible because I dislike hardware stores so much. This study is basic in that it clocks the amount of time it takes you to push the button to get what you want.

This sketch was playing on the idea that the user can build their own environment in an unpredictable manner. Every time the square button is pushed the circles move to a different location on the stage. This shows that users the idea of unlimited possibility of combinations for objects.

This study was playing with the idea that you can visually see where you have been and where you are going. This gives the user a sense of a blueprint of how they can move around the screen in a visual manner.

This study was to focus on the fact that Home Depot is very organized. Although there is a lot of information available to the user at any given time they have the ability to interact with only one thing at a time. While in home depot I found that you could see everything at once but you can only interact with one section at a time. That is the aspect of hardware stores that I don’t like. Often you can see several things all at once in an organized but overwhelming fashion.

This study was to incorporate the idea of building off of one idea to other ideas. The user can simply click into the main box and by clicking the box the boxes build off of the main box. This study is mostly just to show the idea of building from one thing to another.

The idea for this study was to let the user design their own environment. By clicking which ever elements they wanted in the main menu they could then select different elements to personalize their homes. The idea of personalization is the focus for the study. I want the user to enjoy an interactive experience of building their own environment.

This study also focused on the idea of possibility. By dragging around the circles to different areas of the screen you can start to build a new and interesting object. This aspect of creating a new and interesting space through the possibility of movement was relevant to a home building experience. I liked the idea of the user creating their own space with the objects; making the space their own.

The focus for this study was creating something new out of several smaller elements. This is the core idea of Home Depot. In this study there are endless possibilities of what the user can do. By stopping the movie at different times the circles will combine in different ways to show the combination of the elements in new and interesting ways. Converting one thing to another is an interesting aspect to the process of building.
